THEO presents a duo exhibition titled “The Texture of Time: Dialogues

Between the Inner and Outer Self” at Untitled Art 2024, featuring works by

artists Kim Eunju and Lee Yejoo. The exhibition explores the transformation

of individual inner and outer experiences through time and space, utilizing

Western media from an Eastern perspective.

Both Kim Eunju and Lee Yejoo successfully held solo exhibitions in January

2024 at THEO's two distinct spaces. This two-person exhibition

harmoniously combines Kim Eun-Joo’s lyrical and intricate expressionist

paintings with Lee Yejoo’s contemporary and abstract sculptural works,

offering viewers an opportunity to experience the multilayered textures of

time through the lens of these two artists.

Kim Eunju’s Section:

Kim Eunjuo’s works delve into the intersection of personal memory and

time. By capturing emotional journeys through color and form, her paintings

invite viewers to reflect on their own experiences and memories.

Lee Yejoo’s Section:

Lee Ye-Joo employs various materials in her sculptural works to express

interactions with the external world. Her contemplative approach addresses

the relativity of time as experienced in modern life, presenting a meditation

on the pace of contemporary existence.

Eunju Kim has been building her unique artistic world around the theme of light. Her work draws attention to the presence and beauty of light in our daily lives that we often encounter, but most of the time go unnoticed, such as the moment when a beam of light suddenly enters a room and illuminates the familiar, or when a small, insignificant flower we encounter on a walk is illuminated and reminds us of nature’s simple beauty. In her work, light is more than just a physical phenomenon, it is a medium that blurs the boundaries between existence and non-existence, the visible and the invisible, and her approach pushes the viewer beyond the limits of perception, inviting them to perceive a wider world.

Yejoo Lee is closely connected with Merleau-Ponty's phenomenological perspective on perception, which posits that the body transcends mere physical existence and is deeply intertwined with personal identity and experience. Through direct interaction between her own body and the sculptures, the artist artistically expresses this interconnectedness.
