Grim Park
b. 1987 / South Korea
Grim Park has been working on various contemporary narratives by utilizing his 'minority personality' with traditional techniques of Buddhist art. He has been presenting works that combine multi-layered narratives based on narratives expressed in his personal experiences and has recently been exploring the 'reinvention of Korean painting' through various media/formal experiments. He has mainly participated in solo exhibitions such as 虎路, Becoming a Tiger <SEOUL> (2022, Studio Concrete, Seoul), CHAM; The Masquerade (2021, UARTSPACE, Seoul), HWARANGDO (花郞徒) - a crowd of beautiful men (2018, Bul-il Museum, Seoul), group exhibition PANORAMA (2023, SONGEUN, Seoul), and Korean Traditional Painting in Alter-age (2022, Ilmin Museum of Art, Seoul).
박그림은 불교미술의 전통 기법으로 본인의 ‘소수자성’을 활용하여 다양한 동시대의 서사를 다루는 작업을 해오고 있다. 도제방식으로 수학하였으며, 개인적 경험에서 발현된 서사를 바탕으로 종교서사/퀴어서사와 결합하는 형태의 작품을 발표해오고 있다. 최근에는 다양한 매체와 형식적 실험을 통해 '한국화의 재창안'에 대해 모색하고 있다. 주요 참여 전시로, 개인전 虎路, Becoming a Tiger<서울> (2022, 스튜디오콘크리트, 서울), CHAM; The Masquerade (2021, 유아트스페이스, 서울), 화랑도 (2018, 불일미술관, 서울), 단체전 PANORAMA (2023, 송은, 서울), 다시 그린 세계: 한국화의 단절과 연속 (2022, 일민미술관, 서울) 등이 있다. |
